Yeah - and I suppose the IPL and the T20 games they've all come up trumps with spinner galore! I think I had test match cricket in mind. It'll be interesting to see how many spinners we have at our club this year in the different youth age groups. There was a wrist spinner in the U15's last winter, but I didn't see him at all over the summer so he may have left. Frank's still at it though and going from strength to strength.

It's pretty poor form to tout your own competing forum on someone else's forum. If I were in Dave's position, I'd be deleting your post and banning you from the forum. Dave's call though - this is his forum, after all …

No worries it's a little odd, that you'd start out using this as your launch pad as there's so few of us on here and we're for the most part all ex Bigcricket forum members. Members on here have said that it may be short-sighted in that this forum is so spin specific, so Cricket Dude guy might be able to fulfil a need? It takes quite a bit of work to maintain a forum as you need active members and integral to a forums success is the input from the admins in order that they maintain the site at times when it goes quiet.
Additionally you have to promote the site if you have no members and have a selling point to get members on board. In which case I'd say good luck to you mate and let us know how you get on.

my young blokes first game today for the season and although they had a narrow loss he took 2 wickets for 3 runs off 2 overs with one maiden. The first wicket was a stumping in his first over and he had a kid caught at mid on in his second over.
So if you count his 3 overs of school cricket, so far this season he has bowled 5 overs and taken a wicket in each of the five!
He got first and second drop out today and bowled really well. His first victim was a front foot player, he came forward to everything and i think jimmy did him with flight and had him a long way down the track for an easy stumping.
All in all , a great start to the comp and it took only 2 overs to get him 4th spot in the comp bowling averages after round one.

you had a great start as well despite the soggy ball and all. outstanding economy rate and a classic legspinners dismissal.
i reckon the best time for a legspinner to get wickets in junior is early in the season or during a heat wave. the batsmen are there for the picking.

when my son came on to bowl this morning he got the biggest come on from his team mates like they expected something to happen and they didn't have to wait long, 3 balls later he had the first drop and former rep bat stumped.
the thing that sticks him out from all the other spinners in his comp is he can get 6 balls on that small dinner table top and spin them hard. man he gives it a flick.

Takes years of constant practise to be able to land it on that small dinner table and spin the f**ck out of it. Dont come easy.
7 years of all seasons bowling. small spells of less than 6 overs in practise with full concentration but all year round and every 2nd or 3rd day. Few weeks and a couple of months off here and there but you have to keep it up all year round.
we went out and did 5 overs on turf this arvo. i put my shirt on a length maybe 8 foot out from crease and jimmy landed most deliveries on or round that. except 2 shorter faster ones on the stumps and a couple of full bungers that drifted anyway. got maybe three to drift appreciably but everything spun heaps except the topspinners that reaaly took off.
what i told him is no wonder he took 2/3 off 2 with a wicket maiden. he is hard to play believe me.
he has a whole new attitude to his bowling since he starred in that school game in front of his biggest crowd yet. it was the best thing ever for his bowling. it really spurred him on and now i know he thinks it is his best talent and the thing that gets him noticed.
He has a reputation that proceeds him now every time he bowls. i hear the opposition say stuff like " oh no , here comes that really good legspinner again"
next week he goes head to head with the other good leggie getting round here. should be good.

In the t20 the other day he bowled a spell of 4 overs and only bowled 3 leggies, rest were offies and 2 of those leggies pitched half way down. I think in the first class matches for yorkshire he was still bowling leggies as his stock ball though.
The guy has gone backwards badly though, was once touted as pushing swann for the 1st choice for england, barely makes his county's team now. Sad to see really, guy is very average now.

That's sad news about Adil, I wonder if that' entirely down to the fact that they exposed him too early to first class cricket?

Has anyone got anything about this young Queensland legspinner that there's been murmurs about being a potential Oz bolter against SAf? I've seen his name mentioned a couple of times now but I can't remember it, does anyone know if is he's any good?
