Just watching Max Waller bowling his spin - young bloke 23? Doing quite well 1 for 5 off his first over. Bowling Leg Breaks and Wrong Uns, kind of an Adil Rashid look about his bowling action. As usual the commentators struggling to identify what he's bowling calling what looked like a ball spinning like a Wrong Un a flipper. I suppose it could be a off-spinning Flipper, which is a really obscure delivery.

This is one of the young uns from one of the Warnie masterclass video's isn't it. Again seems to be another bloke who can't spin his leg break very hard. What is up with so many of these young guys who can't spin the ball. Are they a product of negative coaching? Even in Australia, where are the successors to the legacy of the hard spun leg break?

Yeah it looked for much of the time his job was containment, but maybe the nature of the game and closeness called for it in this instance? But having seen him just the once, I couldn't say for sure, just good to see wrist spinners in the game and the fact that he was insistent on his field and planning with the keeper. Not sure though whether he got the field he wanted.
Good to see you on here Goldenarm, does that mean you've signed up?

Yes mate I have signed up and expect to spend far too long here from now on! ;D I can understand grading your spin, and bowling tight but something tells me these blokes simply don't have it in them to create those ripping leg breaks of the kind that first fired our imaginations. I wonder how much of a part do these featherbed pitches play in reducing the amount of spin seen on the ball? But then we do see offies ripping the ball around on them, like Swann.

No doubt it's in part due to the innacuracy factor associated with our art. You'd hope that these new blokes can spin the ball hard, but as it's early days in their development and everyone reckons they'll not come of age until their 30's they're probably being coached to foucs on accuracy and to tone down the spinning as part of that?
I wonder who mentors him?
