Jules Verne,
Good to have you aboard mate, hope you join in with some of the discussions and I'd be interested to know how you found us?

Hello?
New to this cricket forum malarkey, in fact I am new to forums in general.
I'm Jake, from London, been bowling leg spin for about 7 years now, lost interest in cricket for a while, or I've lost interest in playing but not watching silly amounts of India v Pakistan, SA v Aus, Big Bash, India v England etc etc all winter stuff (frightening that I've already become an armchair fan) but I'm looking to get back to winter nets and hopefully a better summer, I'd come across your blog 'Someblokecalleddave' about leg spin and to cut a long story short I've ended up here. I've had s quick trawl some of the threads, most of the videos and stuff I've watched, I've even seen that Macgill video inviting footage to open up a tutelage, that is how obsessed I've become recently.
Looking forward to it, Jake

Hello Jake, I'm only just round the corner from you - Basildon and did play for Grays for a few years. Good to have you on here, although I've got to say, you're probably advised to sign up or at least keep an eye on the Bigcricket threads, as that's where most of us have come over from as the Admins on there let it go for a while and it got inundated with spam. They've become active again and I'm pretty much over there, rather than on here, although I look in every day and see if there is any activity.
Yeah I'm waiting for nets to start and to see if I can squeeze another year out of my body, but I've got a sneaky suspicion that this could be my last year or, that I may not even be able to see it though. I'll have to see?
Yeah, get involved on the forums, beats watching the tele when the crickets not on. Yeah Stuart Macgill was a bit of a surprise to all of us, he even signed up on here, but he's a busy bloke and has got other things going on, but he does answer your questions especially via Youtube and sometimes you can catch him when he's on-line! It'll be interesting to see if he does more of the videos.
Dave

G'day all. Have just joined and only just spotted the introductions thread. Not sure whether it was a bad omen that I found the broken bodies thread and posted there first but anyway.
I'm Edwin and currently residing in South Wales but soon to be relocating to South East London. I've been bowling leg spin since I was about 8 years old and started mixing in some more unorthodox off spin about five years later. Despite finding it pretty easy knocking over batsmen in the school nets I never got to bowl in a match for the school team - neither did any of the other spinners at the school in my age group (read what you will about the captain's tactics were during those years). I gave a go at bowling fast Sydney Barnes style spinners with the odd swinger during nets to try fit the fast/medium pace tactics preferred by the captain whilst still being able to spin the ball but I developed a Morton's Neuroma in the foot that put a stop to that.
The only match I have ever got a bowl in was for my school's staff XI in a twenty twenty friendly match where I opened the bowling and bowled the two death overs reasonably OK.
Gave a stab at the university's cricket club but didn't hang around long after finding the the club was more interested in being passed out on the floor in nightclubs than playing any cricket.
At that point I'd pretty much given up on playing any competitive cricket but there's just something about spin bowling that is pretty addictive. I never could kick the habit of spinning cricket balls from one hand to the other or sneaking a read of very old and new books of spin bowling at its practitioners. So the masochist in me has vowed to lose the whale blubber and turn the rusty arm over once again to see if I can remember how to land a spinning ball on a length. My quest to graduate from experienced net bowler and occasional bowling impressionist to actually playing some competitive club cricket led me to t’internet and along the way I found this online brotherhood of spin.
G'day all, Edwin

Welcome aboard Edwin, its fairly quiet here at present but hopefully things will pick up once those of us in the UK turn our thoughts back to the summer. Hopefully Dave may have a few thoughts on your injury / pain issue (he seems to have had most injuries in his time) or alternatively I may ask someone else to just have a quick look at the thread in case it is something more serious and you are doing proper damage.
All the best Tony

G'day all, Edwin I reckon once you make your move to the SE, you'll easily find a club you'll get a game with. Keep at persevere, even if its Sunday friendlies in a 4th XI.

Hi - chrisbell here from the Big Cricket forum (the guy in the wheelchair). I've been busy and haven't kept up with what's been going-on; I only found out about this place following a Youtube conversation with Dave.
